Your First Appointment
Our first appointment is all about getting to know you and your pet. We’ll start by reviewing your concerns and pet’s medical history. With your help, I will then conduct a thorough exam and explain every detail. I’ll answer your questions, and together we’ll come up with a plan that makes sense to both of us, and more importantly works for your individual pet.
Your pet gets a say in this process, too! Sometimes they’re happy to be treated on the first visit, but sometimes I may be unable to perform an exam at all: too many animals have had traumatic medical experiences that make them wary of anything more than a friendly pet from a stranger.
As a Fear Free Certified Practitioner, I believe that approaching a worried animal thoughtfully is crucial for quality care. During the first home visit, we will prioritize medical needs and plan future visits, even if a physical exam isn’t possible. Together, we will explore various methods to help your pet feel safe in my care.
